About this service

Tile is the part of a renovation people see and touch every day. Done wrong, you get crooked grout lines, lippage between tiles, cracks within a year, and waterproofing that fails. Done right, it lasts decades.

We install tile of every type - ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, marble, glass - for kitchens, bathrooms, mudrooms, and entryways across East Village and Manhattan. Substrate prep, waterproofing, and layout planning matter as much as the tile itself. We don't skip any of it.

Working in East Village or one of nine other Manhattan cities? We’ve done tile work in all of them. Curious how we run a job site? Read our story.

Our Process

How a tile project actually goes

  1. Step 01

    Free in-home consultation

We measure the space, check the substrate (subfloor, walls), talk through tile size and pattern, and confirm waterproofing requirements.

  2. Step 02

    Written quote within 48 hours

Itemized - substrate prep, waterproofing, tile, thinset, grout, sealing, labor. Miss the 48-hour deadline? Take $250 off.

  3. Step 03

    Tile selection

We help you pick tile from any supplier. We're honest about what's worth the price and what's overpriced. For natural stone, we order extra to dry-lay and select the best layout.

  4. Step 04

    Substrate + waterproofing

Old material removed. Subfloor or wall checked for level, dry, and structural soundness. Schluter, Kerdi, or HardieBacker installed depending on application.

  5. Step 05

    Set, grout, seal

Tile dry-laid first to confirm pattern. Set with proper thinset and spacers. Grouted, cleaned, and sealed. Final walk-through together - no caulk-on-grout shortcuts to hide bad cuts.

Verified Google Review
We had them regrout both bathrooms and the kitchen floor, and they did such a clean job that we hired them to repaint the whole apartment a week later. Friendly crew, quick, and the communication was excellent — they sent updates every day. Will definitely use them again.

FAQ

Questions East Village homeowners ask before booking

How long does it take to tile a bathroom?
A typical bathroom (floor + tub surround or shower walls) takes 4–7 days, including substrate prep, waterproofing, setting tile, grouting, and sealing. Larger custom showers with niches and benches: 7–10 days.
Do you waterproof shower walls properly?
Yes - we use Schluter Kerdi or RedGard membranes on every wet wall, never just greenboard or a tile-with-thinset shortcut. Waterproofing failure is the #1 cause of tile callbacks in this market and we don't take chances on it.
Can I supply my own tile?
Yes. We install tile from any supplier - local stone yards, big-box stores, online specialty retailers. We'll tell you honestly if a tile we haven't worked with before has any installation challenges.
What about cracked or loose tiles in my existing floor?
We repair both. Cracked tiles get replaced (we usually need a sample to match - bring a piece if you can). Loose tiles often mean substrate movement underneath, so we check the cause before just re-setting them.
Can you regrout my old tile floor or shower?
Yes. Regrouting is one of our most cost-effective services - removes years of staining and refreshes a tile installation without a full replacement. Most jobs are 1–3 days. We can color-match new grout to existing or recommend a different color.
Do you install heated floors?
Yes. Electric heated floor mats go down before the tile, with their own thermostat. Adds about $5–$8/sqft to a tile job and is one of the most-requested upgrades for East Village bathrooms.
