How we handle your information.

Plain English. No dark patterns. Here’s exactly what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

Who we are

East Village General Contractor(“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates this website at eastvillagegeneralcontractor.com. We are a licensed and insured general contractor based in the East Village, New York, serving Manhattan.

If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at info@eastvillagegeneralcontractor.com or call (626) 657-4512.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to respond to you and run a contractor business. Specifically:

  • Information you give us through the contact form: your name, phone number, email address, and the project details you choose to share.
  • Information you give us by phone or email: whatever you choose to share when you call or email us.
  • Automatic technical information: IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, time on site, and referring URL. This is collected by our analytics tools (described below) and is used in aggregate to improve the site.

We do not collect Social Security numbers, payment card information, or any other sensitive identifiers through this website. Project payment details are handled separately through our written agreement, not the website.

How we use what we collect

We use your information to:

  • Respond to your estimate request, schedule the in-home consultation, and send you the written quote.
  • Follow up with you about your project, including reminders if we haven’t heard back.
  • Keep records of estimates, quotes, and project communications as required by New York contractor regulations.
  • Improve the website, understand which pages homeowners find useful, and fix things that break.
  • Comply with legal obligations (tax records, contractor licensing requirements, court orders).

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with third-party marketers.

Tools we use that may collect information

Like most websites, we use a few third-party services to make the site work and to understand how it’s used. These services have their own privacy policies, linked below.

  • Google Analytics 4 — aggregate, anonymized usage data (page views, time on site, traffic sources). No personal information is sent. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • Microsoft Clarity — anonymous heatmaps and session recordings showing how visitors navigate the site. No form fields or personal details are recorded. See Microsoft’s Privacy Statement.
  • Resend — the service that delivers the contact form submission to our email. Resend handles message delivery only and does not use the data for any other purpose. See Resend’s Privacy Policy.
  • Vercel — hosts the website. Maintains standard server logs (IP address, request URL, timestamp) for security and performance. See Vercel’s Privacy Policy.

Cookies and tracking

We use a small number of cookies to make the site work and to understand how visitors use it. These are set by Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, as described above. No cookie we set contains personal information.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work without them. You can also opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

How long we keep your information

We keep contact form submissions and project communications for as long as necessary to serve you, plus the period required by New York contractor regulations and tax law (typically seven years for project records).

If you have not become a customer and ask us to delete your information, we will delete it within 30 days unless we are legally required to keep it.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal information we have about you.
  • Correct any information that is inaccurate.
  • Delete your information (subject to record-keeping obligations described above).
  • Stop contacting you for marketing purposes.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@eastvillagegeneralcontractor.com. We will respond within 30 days.

California residents

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information.

To exercise your California rights, contact us at the address above.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information through the site, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information you give us, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), restricted access, and trusted hosting. No system is 100% secure, but we follow standard practices for a business of our size.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of the page will always reflect the most recent change. Material changes will be noted in a clear notice on the homepage for at least 14 days.
